Watching One TV and hearing New Labour speakers during this election campaign one might think that we are living in a country very similar to Myanmar, Somalia or Iraq.

New Labour, having no idea on what to base its electoral campaign, has gone on a mudslinging corruption allegations spree. Ministers Jesmond Mugliett and Ninu Zammit are the most targeted. The reporters from the “Station of the Year” (sic) do not tell their faithful viewers that that Minister Mugliett has sued Alfred Sant and the MLP for no less than eight libels and that Ninu Zammit on his part has sued five times.

This type of mudslinging was used by the New Labour for their 1996 campaign. Alfred Sant then had managed to make people believe him. When in power he tried his best to substantiate his allegations but time after time his allegations were dismissed and not one of his corruption allegations was proved. Meanwhile he was wrecking havoc with the Maltese economy, employment, taxation and all that.

Should he be believed again?
