So we now have an eight km long tunnel that is several metres high and several metres wide, and costing millions, to convey the electricity cables to wherever they are needed. Good. The journalists who were taken there (TMID, 23 February) by the ministry must have wondered at the marvels modern machinery can perform.

What I am wondering about is whether just one journalist had the curiosity to ask if such a costly tunnel – and I do not at all grudge the cost – could have been utilised also for traffic. Even one way traffic only, and if necessary, excluding heavy vehicles. I do not think any newspaper story referred to this aspect.

Such an additional access for traffic, even, as I say, if it were only one-way, would have eased roads congestion so appreciably!

Did I miss the point, or are all our journalists sycophants, unwilling to disturb the minister’s equanimity by making a valid point.
