The Malta Rugby Football Union (MRFU) is organizing a tag rugby tournament for primary schools in collaboration with GasanMamo Insurance. This tournament will be held in the rugby pitch at the Marsa Sports Grounds from today till tomorrow between 9am and 12.30pm. Everyone is invited to attend and support the players.
“This tournament will be played in a league format with a Fair Play Award given to the team who plays with the spirit of the game and performs the best as a team. Each school is inviting supporters to attend this tournament and cheer on their school,?said Damian Neill, Rugby Director at MRFU.
Tag rugby is a fast-moving, non-contact invasion game suitable for boys and girls and played between teams of eight players within a 40m x 25m area. The object of the game is to run with the ball or pass the ball to a team mate to score a try by placing the ball with downward pressure on the ground behind the opponents?goal line.
“At GasanMamo Insurance, we believe in helping youth develop through sports. We have supported the MRFU for the past three years and we intend to continue. Now we are helping to introduce rugby to young children. We are sure that this will help make rugby a mainstream sport in Malta,” said Julian J Mamo, Director, at GasanMamo Insurance.
