Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg yesterday attended the signing of the agreement by means of which the government transferred public property to the Rabat Scout Group.
In 2002, the Scouts Association was given a piece of land in Rudolph Saliba Street, Rabat for them to build the quarters of the 1st Rabat Scout Group; however it resulted that on this site there were archaeological remains and therefore the proposed building could not be built there.
The government felt the need to give them alternative property in the same street, with a temporary emphytheusis title for the period of 49 years.
This property is to be used for the Scouts activities and also for the use of all the local groups of the Scouts Association of Malta.
