A Lighter shade of green

Malta Independent Saturday, 1 March 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

Over time my voting habits have always leaned towards the greener side of things. For years now, the environmentally-conscious world has been expecting an ecological disaster and in Alternattiva Demokratika, I have always felt comfortable with the fact that a group of individuals are alert to this plight and are strong in their mission to get their message across. In turn, the two main parties tended to sweep this issue under the rug.

Over the last few years as the environment started finally to capture global attention, I had hoped that AD would therefore capitalise on this new situation during this electoral campaign.

Regrettably, however, I was in for a nasty shock. When keenly flipping through their electoral manifesto, I realised that the section L-Ambjent Taghna, encouragingly positioned at the first chapter, contains nothing but meaningless rhetoric and lean suggestions that leave the pro-Green reader yearning for more but coming out dry.

Where has AD gone? Time seems to be taking its toll. The hue is fading.
