I refer to a letter circulated to the media by Dr Georg Sapiano (TMID, 1 March).

In line with common practice, as part of my electoral campaign, I printed and circulated specimen ballots for the districts I contest. The details about the candidates contesting for the Nationalist Party which appeared on these specimen ballots was based entirely on information that was provided by the Nationalist Party.

Unfortunately Dr Georg Sapiano’s address as shown in the information provided by the Party was erroneous. This address was in turn reproduced in the specimen ballots that I printed.

As soon as this transpired I personally called Dr Sapiano to apologise for any inconvenience this oversight might have caused. I also forwarded a copy of the specimen ballot provided by the party to Dr Sapiano.

I reaffirm my regret to this mishap to which I was totally extraneous.
