Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Family and Social Solidarity Minister Dolores Cristina yesterday inaugurated the sixth residence for Agenzija Sapport for disabled persons.
The government’s vision, Dr Gonzi said, was for the disabled to be integrated in society, not institutionalised. The policy recognised the right of persons with a disability to remain in an environment that was familiar to them.
The Housing Authority had always collaborated in the social sector, he added.
The new home will cater for six young people who will be living together with the help of their carers. It will cost some e300,000 each year to run.
