In recent years, AD has tried to portray itself as the green party and projected itself as the saviour of the Maltese environment.

It has criticised the government and the Nationalist Party on many occasions regarding the environment. After all this talk in the past I was eagerly expecting their electoral manifesto to see what changes they were hoping to bring about and how they wanted to improve Malta.

However, after much waiting and anticipation I was greatly let down. Their vision lacks ambition and offers nothing new except for a few ideas. The striking element of this manifesto is that AD fails to mention subjects like climate change, waste management and urban regeneration – subjects that in my mind should lie at the very core of any green agenda.

The so-called Maltese green party seems to have forgotten its roots and principles and this is confirmed by René Ross-ignaud’s resignation. He can no longer identify himself with the party he was a member of. AD is nothing more than a bunch of watermelons. They look green from the outside but are red from the inside!
