So, after so much hype by Dr Alfred Sant and his cronies about a bomb regarding corruption in the Gonzi administration, the bomb exploded last Saturday. To me it looked more like a Chinese cracker.

As usual Sant got sued for libel but by now he’s accustomed to them, this must be the 50th. But what does it matter? Some of the mud will stick and his aim is just that. To a hardened politician the “bomb” would have been like water off a duck’s back but it could hurt an upcoming young politician like Dr Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando.

Worse, Dr Alfred Sant, of the zero tolerance fame, refused to give Dr Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando a chance to defend himself. Instead he chickened out and left the debate arena, where he could have substantiated his corruption allegations.

The whole thing is a déjà-vu, practically the same mudslinging campaign used by Dr Sant against Dr Michael Frendo a few years ago. Dr Frendo came out clear. But Dr Alfred Sant said that the campaign against Dr Frendo had the sought effect – the MLP took political mileage. That is how Dr Alfred Sant works. And this was confirmed again during this election campaign.

But Dr Sant has no regrets. His ultimate goal is Castille, even if he was to sign a pact with the devil. His words not mine.

Before you cast your vote next Saturday, just think.
