I am more than pleased to learn that Eddy Privitera, at long last, has acknowledged the fact that it had to be a Nationalist government to “curb the unruly behaviour of some of Labour’s supporters,” (TMID, 27 February). And I was equally pleased to learn that Eddy, it seems, has abandoned his beloved CNI, forgot all about all the evils of the European Union and is back supporting a party waving hundreds of European Union flags on the granaries! But, on the other hand, I was saddened to learn that the same “unruly behaviour” has raised its head once again with the blessing of gonzipn.
In fact, apart from the frakass created by the students at the university, I have heard other terrible stories which I would like to share with your readers.
Hundreds of students left the university, drove all over the island in a hijacked bus and destroyed several Malta Labour Party kazini. Then they went on with their rampage at the General Workers’ Union headquarters at the MLP headquarters in Hamrun and ended their experience by breaking into Dr Sant’s residence, destroying everything in sight and assaulting his family.
Another group of “unruly students” set the Freedom Press on fire and destroyed it completely. This time round, since we are in Lent, the Archbishop’s Curia was spared. Not the same can be said for our law courts which were broken into and set on fire. A marriage ceremony in Zejtun was disrupted and shots were fired because these unruly hamalli found objection to the presence of Dr Alfred Sant in Zejtun.
Other hamalli were disrupting all Malta Labour Party activities: meetings, conferences… Private citizens with Labour sympathies were insulted and physically assaulted. It is rumoured that some of these hamalli fired shots on Malta Labour Party kazini and even killed a young Malta Labour Party activist who was having a drink with his friends. Luckily, the police were quick to trace the culprit in his farmhouse in Safi.
Shame on you gonzipn for condoning such “unruly behaviour” within your party.
