The Gozo Business Chamber congratulated Lawrence Gonzi on his victory at the last general election and augurs that the country will continue to register economic growth.
The chamber hopes that the proposals relating to Gozo, and which have been included in the PN’s electoral programme, will be given high priority in order for Gozo’s economy to move ahead and to help in the creation of more jobs for the Gozitans in Gozo.
The Chamber notes with satisfaction the inclusion of most of its suggestions in the electoral programme and promises its support to the new administration, while at the same time looks forward to continued excellent relations with the government ministries for the benefit of all.
The Malta Dockers Union and the Gozo Tourism Association also issued a statement to congratulate the Prime Minister following the Nationalist Party’s election win.
The Malta Union of Bank Employees also congratulated Dr Gonzi on his election as Prime Minister, pledging collaboration and commitment to his new team.
Creation of quality jobs, enhancement of quality life and quality work through innovative ideas are all on MUBE’s agenda, which undoubtedly falls in line with Malta’s drive for an increase in economic growth and productivity.
While MUBE has already contributed strongly to change in both process and practice in the Banking and Finance Sector, it will continue to work in a way that will fulfill and reach the necessary objective, of making Malta and its workforce a centre of excellence in Banking and Finance – a vision shared by many, not least MUBE.
Together, it can be done, the MUBE said.
The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association also issued a statement to congratulate Dr Lawrence Gonzi and the Nationalist party on their electoral victory.
MHRA has no doubt that Dr Gonzi and his cabinet will endeavour to use their ability, integrity and energy to ensure that the Maltese economy remains on track and to implement the proposals contained within the electoral manifesto.
MHRA said it was pleased to note that Dr Gonzi has chosen to take personal responsibility for the tourism portfolio, thereby confirming the government’s total commitment to the tourism industry. MHRA also congratulates Dr Mario de Marco on his appointment as Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism. The association looks forward to collaborating closely with him, and to establishing the same excellent working relationship that existed with his predecessor.
The past year saw a dramatic turnaround in the performance of the tourism industry. All stakeholders concerned must continue to work together to ensure that we continue to build on that success. MHRA once again recommends that the Government continues to implement the Tourism Plan launched in late 2006, which incorporated the recommendations outlined by the consultative group, that had been set up purposely to address the three main pillars on which the success of the sector is built; namely accessibility, marketing, and the product. These were again highlighted in the MHRA memorandum presented to Dr Gonzi during the run-up to the election, the MHRA said.
The Confederation of Malta Trade Unions – CMTU - congratulates and augurs buon lavoro to Prime Minister Gonzi, his cabinet and all his new team.
The CMTU will continue to contribute and actively support, through social partnership, Malta’s efforts to reach new heights in the creation of wealth, more business and more jobs for the Maltese workforce.
The Confederation of Malta Trade Unions also strongly embraces the concept and vision of togetherness as one people and one nation which is also firmly entrenched in CMTU’s longstanding agenda, the CMTU said in a statement.
