Surely any unmanipulated citizen feels nauseated at the very idea of having a governmental administration running a country when neither did it obtain a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, nor does it have the majority of the electorate backing it.

This is not a repetition of 1981, which thanks to Mintoff saw amendments to legislation passed so that there would not be such a repetition. The 2008 general election has produced a constitutional issue as GONZIPN governing would mean a minority government running a country. This situation is not acceptable if we pretend to have an authentic democracy.

Dr Sant [for his own reasons] rushed in resigning - he could have awaited slightly longer to give time to the MLP to structure itself and prepare for this quixotical legal and realistic battle, where the majority of the electorate clearly does not want GONZIPN to govern our country – these are facts not illusions!

The Electoral Commission rushed into handing the election report to the President when the election picture was still hazy but for the fact that the difference between the two major parties was numerically insignificant. Only following the premature presentation of this report did the Electorate become aware that the MLP would numerically have a majority of Seats in the House of Representatives. So GONZIPN has, in truth, a majority in what?

Here we have an aberration of electoral justice which must be legally and satisfactorily remedied to those who still believe that Malta is a genuine, authentic democracy: otherwise let us call a spade, a spade.
