St.Venera L.-San Gwann 2-4
The Saints were close early on through Alan Borg but they managed to break the deadlock in the 13th minute through a Keith Fabri free-kick.
The St.Venera keeper brought off a difficult save to foil Roberto Brincat with the Lightnings replying through a dangerous Glenn Micallef free-kick and a shot by Mark Muscat which finished just wide.
San Gwann made it 2-0 on the half-hour as a shot by Marco Mercieca was partially saved by Elvin Attard and Sergio Hili scored from close-range.
In the 35th minute Hili shot straight into Attard when all alone infront of goal but they increased their lead in the 45th minute with Clint Gatt hitting the crossbar from a free-kick and Roberto Brincat shot in from the rebound.
St.Venera had a good second-half with Mark Grech pulling a goal back in the 55th minute. They continued to push forward and the San Gwann goalkeeper Justin Spiteri did very well to stop dangerous efforts by Glenn Micallef and Mark Muscat. Their pressure paid off in the 86th minute with Daniel Piccinino finishing off from a Glenn Micallef corner-kick.
But two minutes later San Gwann closed the match when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Piccinino on Clint Gatt with Sergio Hili scoring from the spot.

Mgarr U.-Lija Athletic 1-2
Lija created the first opportunity in the 18th minute with Alan Medati crossing from the right flank and Beppe Antignolo headed just over the bar.
Play gradually resulted in the midfield sector with Lija again being close in the 29th minute through Lydon Cilia. Mgarr's reply produced a Neil Busuttil effort which finished just wide and on another occasion James Borg had a shot which hit the post.
Six minutes before the change of ends Mgarr forged ahead as a Neil Busuttil free-kick was headed in by Matthew Muscat. After the change of ends Lija played the better football and were very close through a Jean Paul Scerri free-kick and a shot by Alan Medati which were well saved by Kevin Ellul.
In the 58th minute Lija made it one-all through Michael Mangion and later on the Mgarr custodian did well to stop shots by Alan Ellul.
Five minutes from time Lija scored the winning goal through Beppe Antignolo.
