Valletta will be seeking to return to the top of the standings this evening when they face third placed Birkirkara at 8pm.

Marsaxlokk are enjoying a two-point lead after their victory over Sliema yesterday. And Valletta need to win this evening if they are to overtake them once again.

It is the second match on today’s programme which opens with the Floriana-Hamrun clash at 6pm.

The two sides are coming from emphatic wins in their last matches. Valletta, in fact, beat Hamrun Spartans 4-1 while Birkirkara surprised Sliema to emerge 3-1 winners.

Valletta are able to field their typical formation this evening, but Birkirkara will have suspended central defender Emil Yanchev missing, at least, though they are expected to welcome back Lino Galea and George Mallia.

A victory for the citizens will possibly rule Birkirkara out of contention, but if the Stripes win today, then the title race will get tighter than ever before.

In today’s first match, Floriana and Hamrun will be seeking their first win in the Championship Pool.
