Bank of Valletta is the official sponsor of ‘History in Scale ’08’, the annual model expo organised by the Society of Scale Modellers. This year’s event is being held at the Air Battle of Malta Memorial Hangar of the Aviation Museum in Ta’ Qali.

The bank’s sponsorship was presented by Karl Spiteri, Manager Corporate Branding and Quality to Ivan Cocker, president of the Society of Scale Modellers at the society’s headquarters.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr Spiteri said “Bank of Valletta has been supporting this exhibition for the last four years and is proud to be associated with an event that, apart from being a showcase of local talent, is also an exposition of Malta’s rich history. Bank of Valletta is a strong supporter of a wide range of artistic initiatives through its extensive Community Programme.”

“This year’s History in Scale is again being held at the Malta Aviation Museum, surrounded by the original aircraft and vehicles that were in use during World War II,” said Mr Cocker, while thanking Bank of Valletta for its ongoing support. “As the name implies, the expo is a gallery of highly detailed scale models of aircraft, armoured vehicles, ships, figurines and dioramas. Each member is proud to display pieces that would have taken months of research, construction and finishing. This year’s History in Scale gives special emphasis to subjects from Mediterranean and Maltese History”.

The society of scale modellers was set up in 1981, when a group of model enthusiasts got together to share their experiences in model building. History in Scale 2008 is open to the public from 9am till 6pm daily, between 22-31 March.
