A light aircraft was involved in a minor accident yesterday shortly before 1pm, when it swerved off the runway at the Malta International Airport.
The aircraft, believed to belong to the European Flight Academy, was undertaking a standard flight test when it veered off the runway into the surrounding grass. It sustained slight damage to its undercarriage.
No cause has been given officially, but it is believed that the fairly strong wind at the time may have been the culprit. Investigators were called to the scene in order to determine the reason, and the runway was temporarily closed.
Nobody was injured in the accident.
