After the great success achieved in the Malta Four Nations Cup last week, SKSM Karate Malta again took part in the Irish International Karate Championships in Belfast, North Ireland.

The Maltese team, headed by the SKSM National Coach Mr. Chris Galea, included Cedric Gauci, Andrew Galea as athletes and Lucienne Galea as an Official. Both athletes competed in both Kata (forms) and Kumite (fighting). This was the first time that SKSM competed in these Karate Championships in Ireland and brought back home a total of four medals: one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze. The competition had a pool of over 350 athletes from various different Countries.

Andrew claimed the gold in the Juniors Kata Category from a strong pool of 35 athletes while Cedric managed Silver from a total of 32 competitors in the Cadets section. Both athletes did well in Kumite where again they managed to get to the podium for a third place in their respective categories.
