ALPS Fund-raiser for Lyceum bicycle marathon

Malta Independent Monday, 24 March 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

The Association of Lyceum Past Students (ALPS – Ghaqda Ex-Studenti Liceo) is organising a fund-raising buffet dinner to enhance the proceeds of this year’s Lyceum Bicycle Marathon, all of which will go to Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The dinner will be held at the Marie Louise Suite of the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St George’s Bay, on Friday April 4.

ALPS President George dei Conti Stagno Navarra said it was deliberately planned to hold the buffet dinner on a Friday night so that it could give patrons an opportunity to spend one or two overnights on bed-and-breakfast basis at the 5-star hotel, at special group prices.

The price of dinner will be e21 per person, inclusive of half a bottle of red or white wine and free flow of water. The price for each overnight will be e110 per room (single or double).

Members and friends of ALPS and relatives can make their bookings with ALPS Secretary-General Alex Borg on telephone 2138 6812 or 2137 6387 or mobile 9988 8579, or ALPS Social Commission Chairman Robert Ferrante on telephone 2144 4570 or mobile 7960 3622. Full payment must be made by 1 April.

Mr Stagno Navarra said that besides the usual sense of comradeship and togetherness experienced in all ALPS social and cultural activities, the philanthropic nature of the event should spur on more members, friends and relatives to attend in greater numbers for the sake of helping Id-Dar tal-Providenza and its “angels”.

For last year’s edition ALPS raised a total of Lm1,700 (e3,960) and presented them to the Lyceum Bicycle Marathon organisers for forwarding to Id-Dar tal-Providenza with other moneys raised.
