This was an entertaining match to watch with Qormi meriting their victory after creating most of the chances.
They are now among the front runners in third place with 29 points from 14 games, while Balzan are fifth on 23 points from 15 matches.
It was Balzan who opened the score after only four minutes. From a Lenadro Colombo corner-kick, Lyden Micallef chased what looked like a lost ball; he then entered the area to beat two defenders before hitting home past Qormi keeper Kurt Fenech.
Qormi responded aggressively and they levelled matters on 22 minutes. George Chircop was pushed in the area and from the resultant spot-kick, goalie Camilleri partially saved Jurgen Gerada’s effort and Luke Azzopardi took the rebound to place the ball in the net.
Qormi dominated the second half, taking the lead on 52 minutes through a Buttigieg header following a Glenn Zammit corner-kick.
Qormi scored a third goal near the end, with Jurgen Gerada scoring with a rising shot after a good cross from Alessio Cassar.
