Nature Trust (Malta), yesterday said it welcomed Mepa’s decision to stop the works at the Dwejra heritage park in relation to the Visitors Centre/Cafeteria, in order to verify works being carried out.
The site in question was being assigned as a Visitors centre/Cafeteria by the Dwejra management Board under the Chairmanship of Mepa, following a call for a site by the San Lawrenz Local Council.
NTM recently received reports from Gozo about possible irregularities. These were then sent on to Mepa for investigation, so that action could be taken if necessary. It noted that immediate action had been taken by the authority.
