What C. Galea does not tell us (Rancid wine, TMID Mar 17) is whether they asked the gentlemen to give a hand. What C. Galea does not tell us is whether, had the gentlemen offered to help, the administration at the Mile-End would have welcomed them at all.

What C. Galea should tell us is whether the Iron Curtain around Dr Sant, Jason Micallef et al will ever be lifted to let modern, progressive, moderate, intelligent young aspirants have a say in their party’s affairs.

What I should ask C. Galea is why, as soon as George Abela indicated his desire to contest the leadership, he overshot everyone else’s popularity among Labour supporters? And why did Jason Micallef stick his foot in it on Xarabank, and as much as declared Dr Abela to be a ‘persona non grata’?

The MLP does not need a bunch of apologists trying hard to defend the present structure because it is indefensible. They should employ their energy in ensuring that all the radicals are out, and make way for new blood which the MLP have been anaemic for many decades.
