The Malta Kennel Club is now an accepted registry of the American Kennel Club, in line with a decision taken on 14 February by the board of the American Kennel Club, which accepted the Malta Kennel Club as the only accepted registry in Malta.

The Malta Kennel Club, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, said this was another milestone in its history. It added the American Kennel Club has already approved two pedigrees issued by the Malta Kennel club under the kennel name of Bassjoy which has exported two Basset hounds.
