Labour MP Anglu Farrugia yesterday presented a report to the police commissioner, alleging that “hundreds” were bribed to vote PN in the run-up to the 8 March general election.

Speaking to journalists outside the police headquarters in Floriana before his meeting with Police Commissioner John Rizzo, Dr Farrugia said he could not give details about the allegations and would now leave it in the hands of the police to investigate.

However, his report included the names of two ministers, said Dr Farrugia, adding that people were threatened to vote PN and were paid to do so. He said he had received this information from a number of people after the general election.

Asked whether he knew how much people were paid, he said he knew of amounts that varied between e70 and e1,500.

“I’m going to give the police commissioner all the information I have in hand. He has already received a number of letters regarding the same allegations, so he would be able to build on this information,” said Dr Farrugia.

Asked if he believed his allegations could change the outcome of the general election, he said he would now leave it up to the police and take it from there.
