The culture commission of the archdiocese is holding a series of six conferences on the appreciation and valorisation of history and cultural heritage, on the main theme of culture and faith. The conferences will be held between April and December.

Malta is rich in artistic and cultural heritage, much of it related to the Church, and the Church feels duty bound to protect this heritage, commission chairman Joe Sammut said.

The conferences will deal with: St Paul in Maltese churches, to be given on 9 April, by Mgr Gwann Azzopardi; Music and Singing in the Holy Books, on 14 May, by Rev Dr Anton Abela; Architecture as an expression of faith, 11 June, Prof. Richard England; Music in today’s liturgy, 8 October, Fr Anton Briffa, OFM Cap; Spirituality in the cinema, 12 November, Dr Gloria Lauri-Lucente; and Is faith a hindrance in man’s development?, 10 December, Fr Rene Camilleri.

The conferences start at 7pm and will be held in the Catholic Institute’s Mgr Gonzi Hall, Floriana. Everyone is invited to attend.
