Week eleven of the Middlesea Valletta Life National League saw a matching pair of 8-0 wins for table toppers Fina First against HSBC, and chasers Aercomms against PharmaVet, while third placed Globalair Travel continued their assault on the top placings thanks to a fifth consecutive match win against Ramis (2-6).

Royal shock got the better of Inlusion in a 6-2 result, while Turu’s Knights took all eight points from their table-bottom clash with The Clan.

Globalair Travel’s winning streak rolled on to it’s fifth week thanks to their 2-6 victory against fifth placed Ramis. They opened the scoring with a 675-743 win in game one, but Ramis managed to square the match after the second of the set, which they won by a mere two pins (735-733).

Globalair held a 66 pins advantage going into the deciding game, and clinched it 725-769 for the match. Neil Sullivan (Globalair), 609. John Balani (Ramis), 520.

Fina First remain eight points ahead at the top after this week’s 8-0 win over HSBC, who drop to eighth place with the defeat. Game one could easily have gone either way, Fina scraping past their opponents by eight pins, 757-749.

Game two was only slightly more open, falling 836-814 to Fina to make it 4-0, and then game three saw a comfortable 898-677 win for the defending champions to complete the whitewash. Mark Spiteri, 667. Sue Abela, 583. Both bowlers play for Fina First, and were Bowlers of the Week.

Aercomms registered the highest of the week on 2494 pins (just three ahead of Fina’s 2,491 tally) during their thrashing of sixth placed PharmVet. The rout began with a convincing 830-668 win in game one, and Aercomms then doubled their lead with an 879-783 result in game two.

The match was surely in Aercomms' bag with one game to go, and they won that with a much closer 788-761 score line for the full point victory. Dennis Mercieca (Aercomms), 667. DaniEl Swift (PharmaVet), 598.

Royal Shock climb one place to fourth thanks to their rather scrappy 6-2 win over Inlusion (seventh) this week. They narrowly won game one 704-698 for the early lead, and then went 4-0 up with a better 794-741 result in the second.

Game three saw Inlusion claw back a quarter share of the points thanks to their low-scoring 692-712 win. David Fenech (Royal Shock), 576. Ramon Casha (Inlusion), 526.

Bottom two sides Turu’s Knights and The Clan faced off this week, the former walking off with all eight points to aid their survival campaign, and push their opponents further towards the reality of relegation. The Knights stormed to a good 774-677 win in the first of the series, showing good playing consistency to then take the second 776-752.
