Snooker: Malta Opens with two victories at European team championship

The Malta team consisting of Alex Borg, Simon Zammit and Duncan Bezzina had a strong start at the European Men’s team championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

They have won their opening two matches convincingly.

In the opening match on Sunday, Malta beat Finland 12-6 while yesterday they registered a runaway 17-1 win against Switzerland.

The Masters A team comprising Frans Mintoff and Tony Mifsud has started with two defeats against the strong N. Ireland (2-6) and Wales (1-7). Masters Tam B registered a 2-6 defeat at the hands of Ireland.

Meanwhile Noel Camilleri of Zejtun Band Club beat Noel Bonello of Count Roger Band Club 5-2 in the final of the second division championship. The match was played at PN Club, Senglea, and was controlled by Frans Bugeja.
