Snooker: Malta Lose against Scotland and must now beat England

After winning the first two matches on the opening day, tha Malta team taking part in the European Championship in Glasgow, had mixed fortunes yesterday.

In the first match yesterday Malta had the better of Holland winning 13-5.However in the second match yesterday Malta suffered the first defeat against the home side.

Scotland 1 beat Malta 12-6. This defeat complicates Malta’s passage to the next round as the locals will need a victory today against England, and hoping that Holland holds Scotland.

On the opening day Malta had two impressive wins against Finland 12-6, and against Switzerland 17-1. The Malta team is made up Alex Borg, Simon Zammit and Duncan Bezzina.

In the Masters competition it was a completely negative day yesterday, with just one draw and five defeats in six matches.

Team A opened with a good 4-4 against Scotland, but was later beaten by Ireland 1-7 and Scotland’s B team 3-5.

Team B suffered three heavy defeats against Scotland 0-8, England 1-7 and France 1-7.
