Zurrieq 4
St George’s 2
Zurrieq deserved the verdict as they were the better side. They now occupy second spot on 19 points from 10 games while St George’s are in third place on 14 points from un identical number of games. The first half was a balanced affair but the second period was dominated by Zurrieq.
The first two occasions were created by St George’s when Dylan Bonavia served Redmir Vassallo with a through bull but Karl Attard foiled him with a timely tackle and Dylan Abdilla served Vassallo with a through ball in the area and Zurrieq keeper Joshua Bugeja was forecd to come out of his charge to kick the ball upfield.
Zurrieq soon reacted by creating two occasions in succession: Joseph Bezzina served Nicholas Ahdilla with a through ball on the left flank and from his cross the ball was cleared to a corner, and in their next attack they opened the score: after a run down the right flank by Christian Bianchi he served Dean Sylvester with a perfect cross in the area who shot past Saints’ keeper Lloyd Spiteri.
