Twelve weeks from nineteen have now been completed in the Middlesea Valletta Life National League at the SuperBowl, where Fina First still rule the roost, while Aercomms do all they can to keep the pace.
Both took all eight points from their respective opponents PharmaVet and The Clan this week, while there were similar six-point victories for Ramis over Inlusion, and Royal Shock over HSBC. The encounter between Globalair Travel and Turu’s Knights ended in a draw.
Fina First stay eight points ahead of the field, thanks to their 0-8 hammering of PharmaVet this week, the latter dropping right down into the relegation zone with the result. Fina were barely troubled by their opponents, taking game one by 61 pins (675-736) and then going 0-4 ahead with a 770-814 game two win. Second placed Aercomms took eight points from The Clan to stay in touch with arch rivals Fina, although the eventual and fated losing side were unlucky not to salvage at least two points from the clash.
Game one was a one-sided 682-847 affair, but then The Clan came close to levelling things in game two, which they narrowly missed out on with a 755-768 score line. Game three proved even tighter with just seven pins separating the two sides, Aercomms clinching it 805-812 to make it 0-8 and also claiming the best team total of the week, 2,427 pins. HSBC remain precariously above the relegation spots following their 2-6 loss against Royal Shock in week twelve. The latter came out with all guns blazing in the first of the set to claim a crushing 737-879 win, and then made it 0-4 with a 723-820 result in game two. Fortunes were reversed in the final game with HSBC putting in a great 875 game against 699 from Royal Shock to bag their quarter share of the points. Joe Cassar (Royal Shock), 635. Ramis came out on the best end of another 2-6 score line, while it was Inlusion who ended up the losers. Ramis were first on the score board with an early 694-829 game win, but Inlusion came back to go all-square thanks to their 730-721 game two equaliser. The fixture between Globalair Travel and Turu’s Knights ended in a tie, but four points was still enough to catapult the latter from ninth to sixth in the classification. Globalair started typical of their recent form with an 803-716 opening win, but it was soon level after the Knights clinched the much closer second game 826-838. Turu’s Knights also took the third, 726-758, but Globalair were able to force a draw thanks to their convincing opening game win. Matthew Caruana (Turu’s Knights), 609.
