Pozzallo is keen to be part of the Malta-Sicily Kayak Challenge. This was confirmed by Mayor Giuseppe Sulsenti when briefed of the event by Wilfred Sultana, chairman of the organising committee, at a meeting held at the Sicilian town.

As a result of this meeting the fleet of yachts providing escort to the Kayak Challenge participants will be hosted with free berthing facilities on the pontoons in Pozzallo harbour for their weekend stay.

Since the first Malta-Sicily Windsurf Race way back in 1984 Pozzallo has featured prominently in many nautical events originating from Malta, varying from windsurf, yachts, power-boats, Maltese dghajsa, and even swimmers.

Besides Mayor Sulsenti the meeting was also attended by Alderman for Tourism and Sport Roberto Iozzia and Concetta Vindigni, Head of the Entertainment, Sport and Tourism office at the Pozzallo Council.

The event, scheduled to be held on Friday 27 June, is being organised by the Wishbone Solidarity Group, and is being promoted as an occasion to raise funds in aid of the Malta Cancer Foundation whereby the official slogan of the event will be ‘Kayak for Cancer’.

Meanwhile a number of firms have confirmed their support towards the event’s official sponsorship pool. These are GasanMamo Insurance Ltd, Farrugia Investments Ltd, Datatrak plc, Go Sicily Properties, Tower Supermarkets Ltd (Sliema), Virtu Ferries Ltd, and Errea by Tutto Sports Ltd.
