The Labour Party has resolved the leadership enigma. Not even a need for deputies. The news should hit the tabloids any moment now. In the corridors of the CNL word is spreading that the party echelons have decided to approach Daphne Caruana Galizia, insisting that she takes over the party helm and sit in the driving seat of the MLP. Since it seems that she has the answer to every issue, and apparently only she has, it was decided to cut a long story short and hand her the sceptre as party leader.
When the giant winged creatures of wisdom and awe were hovering over this tiny island of ours they chose to release their poop droppings of intelligence on the head of Daphne, and Daphne alone. Yes, my dear majority on the island, you are children of a lesser God. You have not been gifted like Daphne. Daphne is intelligent, unbelievably so, yet alas she belongs to the minority.
Now to be intelligent like Daphne and point fingers at a smirk is a sorry gesture. A smirk is a facial expression one uses to disguise the truth that lies within. So, friends, what would you classify somebody who is hiding the gospel truth and puts on a smile? A smirk. That was gonzipn on the eve of the election. And what about the definition of crocodile tears? No need to look this up in your dictionary. It is the personification of Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando. So the “smirk” and “crocodile tears” are both human expressions intended to deceive, to take people for a ride.
The admission of the other pillar supporting this triumvirate, Joe Saliba, fares no better. He felt duty bound for the nation’s sake to hide the truth because he said that had the truth surfaced before the election we were at risk of having a Labour government. This is an obscene statement. How could Daphne have overseen this statement? Daphne portrays herself as being a lady of sound values (university scene excluded). How could she ever endorse by omitting such an atrocious action by none other than the PN secretary-general?
But Daphne is otherwise occupied. I am an avid AC Milan supporter. When my side loses, and lately this is a common occurrence, I refuse even to listen to the sports news. Yes, re-watching a match where my side loses is not at all exciting. I am relieved to discover that I do have something in common with Daphne…she finds it yawn-making to talk about the Mistra matter, about JPO vs Gonzi vs Joe Saliba vs PN; surely I understand her. She feels like I feel when my side loses, uncomfortable to watch or comment about.
Gonzi is riding a lob-sided bandwagon. And Daphne knows…oh how she knows! She is seated somewhere on this wobbly band-wagon and she can feel every shake and jiggle. So much so that she wore a smirk even when she was photographed for the weekly page she decides to serve us with. But I must admit, it is fun-reading, so please Daph,…please don’t stop.
We shall elect a leader, and he shall be a good leader, a prospective and alternative premier to the present minority one, no matter what Daphne says. I have full confidence in the names on the actual list of contestants. I know them personally and can vouch for their integrity, dedication and determination. I see people who are honorable enough to cross the floor against all odds and shake hands conceding a victory to his direct opponent. A gesture admired by a large number of Maltese citizens of good faith around Malta and Gozo. I have worked with Michael in a number of elections and I cannot but commend his remarkable qualities. I have followed Joseph Muscat’s achievements within the EU machine, and his performances and results are praised by one and all. I have seen Evarist Bartolo at work, and the man is good, clean and set. I remember Marie Louise Coleiro sat behind her desk as party secretary-general. She never looked back and her sound commitment towards decent and just social policies does her honour.
Be it Joe, Mike, Evarist or Marie Louise I publicly commit myself to help out and offer support and urge all readers of good faith to do the same, so that we may take over the leadership of this country of ours. We can and will give a lot to our Malta, not only to the Labour and non-Labour Malta, but also to the minority of Daphneees who feel they are some kind of God’s gift to mankind. They too need Labour.
