Now is the time for the MLP administration to deliver sound and viable judgments regarding the leadership contest. Regulations for the running should be open, clear and precise. Television and radio programmes should be established for all candidates to take part in.

If a commission of serious intellectual persons, such types as professors Edward Scicluna, Godfrey Pirotta and Dominic Fenech, are nominated to prepare a series of questions and also supervise and run these programmes, then the party will really have an open and fair deal to one and all.

All delegates and also party members should be allowed to vote. This will enhance the future leader’s position with the total backing of the party’s rank and file. This will unite all under one leader. The person chosen will know that s/he is eligible also to the majority of the population.

Restrictions of any kind should be abolished. Let’s open all the doors for fresh and innovative opportunities to take hold.
