On Saturday Marsa CC took on Beeston &Toton CC who were on their first visit to Malta, brought by Globalair Travel.

Beeston & Toton won the toss and elected to bat first. Marsa stuck early through the bowling of Sam Dhandapani who took two wickets, that of G.Morley (no runs) and S.Widdison (nine runs).

A partnership between D.Wright and D.Hoon of 62 runs put the visitors in a good position. Wright was eventually caught for 53 runs being the top scorer for his team. Hoon was caught for 22 runs. He was the first of Sarfraz Ali’s four wickets.

S.Golden was the only other batsmen which made it to double figures scoring ten runs. The visitors were also aided with 22 extras and a few drop catches which let them make a reasonable score of 139 runs from their allotted overs. Joy Ghoseroy also took a wicket for the home team.

Joy Ghoseroy and Mark G.Sacco opened the batting for Marsa. Ghoseroy was first to go scoring nine runs. Sacco went on to top score for the home team with 33 runs.

Chris Naudi scored seven and Ronnie Sacco eight runs and suddenly the game was in favour of the tourists.

Javed Shah was bowled for 21 runs. The experience of John Grima (23 runs not out) and Sam Dhandapani (16 runs not out) helped the home team win the game with just three overs to spare. Marsa won the game.

For the visitors S.Pratt, R.Chambers, J.Morley and D.Hoon all took a wicket each.
