The Malta Rugby Football Union (MRFU) is organising a touch rugby tournament for secondary schools in collaboration with GasanMamo Insurance, at the Marsa Sports Grounds Rugby Pitch today, from 9am to 1pm.

The game is played with 7-a-side, The pitch size varies, up to maximum half of full pitch.

Touch rugby is a fast moving, minimal contact, evasive game that is played throughout the world by men and women of all ages and skill levels.

This fast, simple and exciting game promotes the fundamental skills of running, handling, evasion and support play, whilst developing basic principles of attack and defence, without the fear of getting hurt.

The event will be played with every school playing each other once, and the winners will receive a trophy.

Everyone is invited to attend and support the players.

“Not only are young people involved in sports healthy and fit. They also acquire social values and skills through interpersonal relationships, team work and fair play, said Julian J Mamo, Director, GasanMamo Insurance Ltd. “At GasanMamo we believe strongly in supporting such initiatives and look forward to seeing rugby gain more ground in Malta.”
