Netball: Close Win for United over All Ages

Malta Independent Friday, 11 April 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

United 28

All Ages 27

A very pleasant game to watch. The very young team of All Ages E-Motion started the game on a very good note, being very precise and accurate in their shooting and shocked United who on the other hand started quite on a negative note, losing quite a few precious balls in the middle of the court.

The second quarter All Ages maintained their good rhythm and accurate shooting managing once again to finish the first half of the game with a lead of 7 shots against United. In the third quarter, after making some substitutions, United started gaining ground against their young but very talented opponents and managed to decrease the disadvantage from 7 to 4 shots, with this quarter ending 18-22, with All Ages E-Motion still leading.

The fourth and last quarter was definitely breath taking for both teams. United continued to regain ground over All Ages and also managed to draw the score. It was in the last two minutes of the game that United managed to take the lead with one shot over All Ages. United used their experience to keep this advantage by keeping possession of the ball till the end of the game, winning the game with the score of 28-27.

Ta’ Xbiex ASC 45

Mellieha 27

In the first quarter the match started off with both teams determined to give their best; in fact Ta’ Xbiex ASC found a tough defence to overcome from Mellieha but still won the quarter.

In the second quarter, Ta' Xbiex ASC came all out and managed to gain confidence and also increased their lead.

The third quarter was also won by Ta’ Xbiex ASC but Mellieha showed significant improvement and lost the quarter with just 2 points. However the fourth quarter was significantly lead by Ta’ Xbiex ASC again and sealed their victory.

Overall this game was dominated by Ta’ Xbiex ASC’s leading but Mellieha have proven their ability to maintain pace and substantial tactics throughout the game.
