Qormi H.C. 2
White Hart H.C. 1
Umpires Robert Aquilina, James Mizzi.
On the ninth Qormi could have opened the score when Magri pounced on a through pass on the left proceeded towards goal, square passed to Tanti who failed miserably in front of an open goal.
On the 22nd Qormi opened the score when Keith Calleja won a 50/50 ball off Alan Vella and with a well taken reverse hit beat Galea.
After this set back White Hart could have equalised had it not been for a blind save by Chircop off Tua, and on the 28th it had to be another sortie by Chircop to deny Paul Torpiano. On the 30th Roberts forced his way into Qormi’s D but saw his hit missing the upright by centimeters.
In the second half White Hart immediately went out on the attack and on the 41st equalised through a short corner action which saw Roberts just managing to slide the ball home past a diving Chircop.
On the 10th White Hart could have doubled when Sandro Bartolo won a ball on the half way line, forced his way towards goal and with only Chircop to beat made a mess of it. At the other end it had to be a timely clearance off the line by Kevin Filletti to deny Qormi's Jonathan Borg from scoring.
On the 61st Qormi won a short corner which proved to be decisive when Daniel Micallef powered the ball home off Simon Agius’s stick.
Young Stars 5
Sliema Hotsticks 1
Umpires Reno Cremona, Andre Ghio
Barely had one minute gone by when Young Stars forged ahead through David Evans. This early setback put paid to any aspirations Sliema had of repeating the first round win over Young Stars and in fact the first half was practically a one way traffic affair
Young Stars increased their lead from a well taken Short Corner on the 18th Ivan Magro flicked in from 13 metres. The same player made it three-nil on the 21st when he dribbled his way past several Sliema players following a short corner action.
On the 25th Sliema could have pulled one back but the young Brandon Sant playing his first full match for Young Stars, saved a Lentini’s hit destined to the top left hand corner.
On the 53rd Michael Bugeja passed well to Simon Baldacchino who with a fine angled flick beat Sant to reduce the margin.
This was short lived because within two minutes Young Stars re established their three-goal advantage through Cristian Bonello.
On the 61st Young Stars added to their tally when a move between Bonello and Abdilla was concluded by Clifford Defratelli.
At the end of the second round, Rabat Depiro lead on 14 points, followed by Qormi on 10, Young Stars on eight, White Hart on five and Sliema BDO on three.
