This year’s Wilson Teams Tournament at the Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club starts next Monday. The tournament, sponsored by Wilson, will be played on Mondays (men) and Wednesdays (ladies). The rubbers will alternate in such a way that players will not always be on court at the same time every week.

The competition is expected to stretch for six weeks and will be played on a 15-game basis with teams facing each other in a round robin format. After the end of the first round, the first four teams will be involved in a knock-out round to determine the finalists. The final will be played on the Orienta Court on a Sunday.

Seventy-two men and 36 women are expected to take part in the tournament.

VLTC has, in the meantime, extended its merchandise agreement with Gordon Asciak, the representative in Malta of the Wilson brand. This reputable trade name is one of the most popular among tennis enthusiasts due to its products’ excellent quality and good value for money.
