Isn’t it ironic that in the week when hunters were pleading for an open hunting season – denied them because the EU does not want the killing of birds – the Council of Europe decriminalised abortion?
Are we to assume that it is alright to take a human life, but not that of a bird? Is this because humans are so common, and birds getting rare? Should hunters start hunting humans now? Humans make a dull target – it is not difficult to hit a human because there are so many of them.
Isn’t it ironic that the MP who led the Maltese delegation at the Council of Europe, so highly lauded here for its moral rectitude in its stand against abortion, is under a very dark cloud because his moral rectitude in personal profiteering is, to put it very, very mildly, questionable?
Isn’t it ironic that the government should send an MP whose moral credentials are in doubt, to lead a Maltese delegation that was to make such a highly moral stand? Does the government have any morals?
And isn’t it ironic that BirdLife Malta, champion of the birds which fly over Malta, is led not by a Maltese but by a foreigner?
I am no hunter, I have never held a shotgun in my hand. But I wonder: where will the hypocrisy end?
