This year’s edition of the ‘San Michel’ team tournament, which is held annually at Tennis Club Kordin has now reached its half way stage with the Second Round beginning next weekend.

All the six teams play every weekend from 4pm onwards on all the four Courts of the Club. The competition is attracting a great number of tennis enthusiasts who are enhancing the playing atmosphere of this popular tournament.

This tournament, sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk through their product San Michel Table Water, has attracted 126 players who have been divided into six teams. Each team is composed of 12 men and nine ladies who are classified into different categories according to their playing ability. The six captains leading their respective team are Ms. Anna Buhagiar (Team A), Ms. Lonia Carabott (B), Mr. Marco Ricci (C), Mr. Joe Vella (D), Mr. Horace Portelli (E) and

Mr. Clint Cassar (F)

By the end of the First Round only five points separate the top team from the bottom one.

The teams standings are as follows: Team “C” 37 points, Team “E” 36, Team “D” 35, Team “A” 35, Team “F” 35, Team “B” 32.

The tournament committee has thanked the six captains who offered their services to captain one of the teams. Ms Anna Buhagiar and Ms Lonia Carabott have agreed to shoulder this task for the first time.
