Netball: Kerygma Win interesting match

Malta Independent Thursday, 24 April 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

This was the first game of the day, probably that’s why it started with quite a slow rhythm from both teams.

In fact after the first quarter the score was just 3-6 in favour of Ta’ Xbiex who were leading throughout the whole game. The second quarter was certainly the turning point of the game where United were quite inconsistent in their shooting whereas Ta’ Xbiex on the other hand were very accurate in the their shooting.

In fact Ta’ Xbiex finished this quarter leading the game with the score of 17-6. For the third quarter United made some substitutions in their attack and in their defence, however still didn’t manage to take the lead over their opponents, even though they managed to increase their shots to five from the three of the first and second quarters.

This quarter ended with Ta’ Xbiex still leading 11-24.

In the last quarter, once again, both teams decreased their rhythm, in fact United scored only three shots against four from Ta’ Xbiex’s side, who won the game with the score of 14-28. However United still managed to achieve one point from this game.

Kerygma Kaizers 29

Mellieha 26

From the very beginning this game showed that it was going to be an interesting one even though Kerygma Kaizers were a bit better during the first and second quarter.

During the third quarter Mellieha started catching up and we saw lots of silly mistakes coming from both sides.

During the fourth quarter things did not change with Mellieha bringing the score 26-26. In fact It was in the last 90 seconds that Kerygma made sure of the five points when they managed to score three consecutive shots to give them an important win.
