On Saturday and Sunday morning, the Malta Rugby Union hosted the final weekend of the 7’s rugby league for the U17’s, U15’s and U13’s of 2007-2008 season at Marsa rugby pitch, which is supported by Gasan Mamo Insurance.

In the first match of Saturday’s games, Alligators played Sharks in the U15’s league. This match was very exciting to watch as both teams put in a massive performance. Final score 15-15. Alligators winners U15’s league.

The next round of matches were the U17’s. Stompers played Sharks in the first match and final score was that of 50-0.

Sharks took on Alligators next, both teams were looking forward to this match as Sharks were looking for their first win over Alligators, and Alligators wanted the win to continue their winning streak over Sharks.

Alligators finished the stronger as the match came to an end with great passing and support from players as they ran in a further three converted tries to win the match 33-17.

The match of the day was Alligators v Stompers as both sides were playing for the title. Half time score was 12-5 in Alligators favour as their hard work was paying off. During the second half, Alligators continued there hard work in defence as Stompers pressed hard to get back in the match, possession was turned over by both sides regularly during the last seven minutes of play but it was Alligators who came out on top as they got the final try of the match, winning 17-5 and clinching the U17’s title.

On Sunday morning the U13’s of Falcons played Alligators U13’s in the last match of the season. Falcons started the match strongly as they surged towards their opponents try line on several occasions, however the Alligators defence withstood the pressure and kept them from scoring. Alligators then managed to keep good possession of the ball in key areas and scored several fine tries by using the width of the pitch as the ball was moved out wide, half time 15-0.

In the second half of seven minutes, Falcons again started the stronger of the sides as they went forward, the ball was moved wide to their speedy winger for a certain score only to be tackled before he managed to ground the ball.

Alligators then regained possession and used the ball well by moving forward with supporting players to receive the final pass to score some very well worked tries. Falcons kept battling till the end as they were determined to score in the last move of the match but again the Alligators defence denied them getting the final score.
