From what I can follow in the race for the post of leader of the Malta Labour Party, it seems that the MLP never learns from its past mistakes.

The party has lost three consecutive elections, but it acts as if nothing has happened. Party exponents are all out in the media to attack each other, exposing the fact that the MLP is a divided party with factions always at the ready to back stab each other.

What’s more, it seems that the party administration is backing Joseph Muscat in the run-up for the post of leader, when they have a more experienced man like George Abela who is certainly seen to be a better leader by the so-called floating voters.

By electing Joseph Muscat, the MLP will continue to be voted for by the hard-core Labour supporters, who are not enough to enable it to win the election. The party needs a leader who is appealing to the floating voters, and from among the five candidates who have so far put their name forward, it is only George Abela who wears that hat.

But it seems that the MLP never learns.
