Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, will once again give football fans the chance for a pre-season look at the line-up of four of Europe’s biggest teams, when the Emirates Stadium plays host to the Emirates Cup on 2 and 3 August.
Emirates recently signed a three year extension to its partnership with Arsenal Football Club to sponsor the Emirates Cup.
Joining Arsenal for this second Emirates Cup will be La Liga giants, Real Madrid C.F; Serie A heavyweights, Juventus and fellow Emirates-sponsored team from the Bundesliga, Hamburg SV.
The four participating teams boast many high profile international players, who are likely to feature over the weekend. The matches will also offer many Gunners supporters the first opportunity to see the Arsenal first team squad play ahead of the 2008/09 season.
Mike Simon, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, said: “Emirates has a strong, long-term partnership with Arsenal and we are looking forward to welcoming these big clubs to compete in our special pre-season tournament.
Sport sponsorship is a long-standing commitment for Emirates and we look forward to welcoming football fans from around the world to the Emirates Stadium.”
The Emirates Stadium attracted over 110,000 football fans across the two day tournament last year and there are likely to be even more fans attending this year with such high profile teams on show.
The Emirates Cup is a further example of the commitment to sport of the world’s fastest growing airline. Within the sport of football, Emirates is a partner of four top flight football clubs, in Arsenal, Hamburg, Paris Saint Germain and Milan and an Official Partner of FIFA. Emirates’ sponsorships also span the world of rugby, cricket, horse racing, tennis, sailing and golf.
In Malta, Emirates sponsors the Emirates Airline Young Footballer Challenge organised by the Arsenal Malta Supporters Club and supported by the English premier football club, Arsenal. The competition for the Under 11 and Under 12 best footballers will take place on Friday, 16th May 2008 at Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun. Further details can be obtained on tel: 7924 8635.
