From Mr J. Portelli
Mepa has reviewed some permits and revoked them. Why does it not seriously review the permit for the Nadur Cemetery on the road to Ramla?
The cemetery is going to encroach on the still unspoilt landscape leading to Ramla.
Although it was stated otherwise, the water under the cemetery site goes to the Ghajn Qasab spring from which thousands of gallons of water flow every day, very good for irrigation and almost fit for drinking (only the nitrate was found to exceed EU regulations).
Other sites proposed for the cemetery, for example in front of the Nadur cemetery underneath the street, were not considered either by the Church or Mepa.
The Bishop of Gozo chose not to review the case because his predecessor had already decided on it. But the case for violence on children in Lourdes Home was reviewed again. Why not this, which is an abuse against our natural environment?
