Over the past week the Marsa C.C played three games, two against a New Zealand team – Auckland Volcanoes and one against West Norfolk from the United Kingdom.

On the Tuesday and Thursday Marsa played the New Zealand Team.

In the first game the Auckland side batted first and totalled a massive 302 runs from 45 overs. Three batsmen made half centuries, Brad (59 runs), Matt S (51 runs) and Maxi D (52 runs). Nic B scored 39 runs, Matt A scored 28 runs not out and Nic B 18 runs. The Marsa bowling aided the score with 29 extras.

For the home team Kevin Krishna was the main wicket taker with two wickets.

With the daunting task of making 302 runs, the Marsa batsmen tried to make quick runs only to find quick wickets falling and being bowled out for a mere 141 runs. Ronnie Sacco was the only shining light scoring 54 runs not out. Alan Kyle (24 runs) and Joy Ghoseroy (19 runs) were the only other batsmen too make it to double figures. For the Volcanoes Nico H impressed taking four wickets while Tom E and Matt E both took two wickets.

Second game

In the second game the Volcanoes again batted first and in a better bowling performance from the Marsa side, bowled out the tourists for 259 runs. Jeremy H and Nico H both scored 36 runs, Matt A 35 runs, Scott M 30 runs and Nick B 40 runs. For the home side Mike Caruana, Sarfraz Ali and Kevin Krishna were the main wicket takers with two wickets each.

Again the Marsa team fell apart in the batting department, only scoring 101 runs. Ronnie Sacco again top scoring with 39 runs. Alan Kyle was the only other batsmen to make it to double figures with 19 runs.

In fact second top score went to extras with 21. Marsa lost the series two to nil.

On Saturday Marsa played against West Norfolk C.C. The visitors batted first and totalled 259 runs. J. Kennedy top scored with 66 runs followed by Chris Sutton 44 runs, W. Russell 28 runs, H. Mason 24 runs, R. Gurney and W. Stanton 20 runs each. For the home team Mike Caruana was the main wicket taker with two wickets.

The Marsa batting woes continued as they were bowled out for 115 runs. Mark G. Sacco top scoring with 40 runs not out, while Mike Caruana scored 32 runs. B. Stanton and J. Kennedy were the main wicket takers with two wickets each.

This week sees The Marsa team play Royal Horse Artillery who will be on their second tour to Malta in a three match series. Matches will be played on Friday 2, Saturday 3 and the following Tuesday, all starting at 10.30am. On Saturday the Nursery/Academy is from 9.30 till 11.30am
