“The FISEC games that will be held in Malta between 15 and 21 July won’t be possible without the continuous support and the considerable support of the different sport associations and federations.” This was stated by the FISEC Malta chairman Bro Martin Borg fsc during a meeting with the Associations’ representatives that will be directly involved during the games.
Bro Martin said the games in Malta are always held in high esteem by the foreign countries. Bro Martin also thanked the main sponsors of the games – the Malta Sport Council and General Soft Drinks Company Limited.
FISEC Director of Sport, Mr David Azzopardi, said it was essential that all associations and federations represented in the games should confirm the number of athletes taking part by the end of the month. Associations were also asked to nominate a venue manager during the week of the games. Mr Azzopardi also gave out a list of responsibilities for venue managers.
It was also agreed that each association will cater for its own referees and officials.
The FISEC international vice president, Louis Borg, insisted on maintaining the standards in refereeing like in the past editions that were held in Malta. He also confirmed that during the Malta games there will be competitions in athletics, swimming, tennis, table tennis, basketball, football, futsal, handball and volleyball.
At the end of the meeting, Bro Martin Borg thanked all the officials for their constant help and support thus making the participation of the Maltese athletes in these games a successful one.
The FISEC International General Secretary, Gianfranco Selvaggi, Ms Julie Bajada, General Secretary of the CIRPP Committee within FISEC International, Ms Carmen Carabott, FISEC Malta General Secretary and other officials within the Malta FISEC Council, also attended the meeting.
