White Hart have only themselves to blame for missing out on this match. They had the lion’s share of this game but failed to turn this superiority into goals.

On the fifth minute Sliema forged ahead when Michael Bugeja, receiving a through ball from Shaun Grima, beat the onrushing Vassallo Agius with a neat reverse hit.

White Hart were stunned by this goal, however they equalised on the 17th when Luke Borg Costanzi beat Mallia with a well taken hit from the top of the D following a short corner action.

On the 20th White Hart could have doubled but Reno Bianchi missed a sitter after some good work by Paul Torpiano and Carl Tua.

White Hart kept on pressing, throwing away in the process, a series of short corners. On the 33rd Sliema caught the White Hart defence napping and from an M. Bugeja cross Dylan Lentini made it 2-1 with a spectacular hit.

Again in the second half it was White Hart forcing one short corner after the other but to no avail.

To cap it all they also found Luke Mallia, Sliema’s goalkeeper in an excellent mood, saving two close range hits by Luke Borg Costanzi and David Agius.

On the 60th in the counter attack, Sliema were awarded a dubious Short Corner from which action Shawn Mifsud made 3-1.

Immediately from the re-start White Hart pulled one back through David Agius but that was that and although they kept on attacking they just could not conclude.

Rabat Depiro, the newly crowned champions, were really and truly humiliated by a Qormi side which seems to be improving as the season progresses and no doubt will be a force to be reckoned with in the very near future.

Qormi are now looking forward to their participation in the European Club Challenge III being held in Bratislava between 8 and 11 May.

From the first whistle Qormi went out straight on the attack and on the fourth Qormi won a short corner from which Gareth Dimech concluded a set piece which left the Rabat defence motionless.

Qormi kept up the rythm and it was no surprise that on the 7th Qormi went further ahead; when a series of passes between Keith Calleja and Philip Magri ended with Steve Tanti tapping the ball home.

Rabat started coming more into the picture; however they found Ramon Chircop in Qormi’s goal in excellent form. On the 27th Shawn Falzon watched his effort sail over the bar. Just before the half time whistle Qormi nearly made it 3 – 0 when a Daniel Micallef scorcher hit the post off Matthew Buhagiar’s stick.

Qormi couldn’t have had a better start to the second half, when from their first short corner; it was again a well manoeuvred set piece which first saw Ruodolph Camilleri hitting the post with Azzopardi well beaten and from the resultant rebound Gareth Dimech was on hand to squeeze the ball into the net, between two defenders.

Rabat tried hard to salvage the game but could do nothing against a well drilled defence and, to add to their miseries, they conceded a fourth goal on the 52nd when Keith Calleja scored after receiving an inviting pass from Jonathan Borg.

Rabat did manage to pull one back on the 59th through Shawn Falzon but the match by then was won and lost and on the 66th they conceded yet another goal when Jonathan Borg capped a good performance by scoring from the penalty spot.
