The Second Mediterranean Friendship tournament between Malta and Sicily got under way yesterday evening with the Opening Ceremony at the Topaz Hotel in Bugibba. Athletes from Malta and Sicily took part in a march-past in the presence of officials among whom were Maltese Olympic Committee president Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco and the CONI Sicily president Dott. Massimo Costa. Former Olympic athletes Joanna Agius, Laurie Pace, Frans Pace and Jason Trevisan carried the flag of the Maltese Olympic Committee while golfer Andrew Borg was the Maltese contingent’s flag bearer. Members of the Dancesport Association were also among the protagonists of the ceremony
