From Mr F. J. Scicluna
Accessibility is vital in tourism. Gozo’s main economy is now centred on tourism and any form of getting to and from the island as easily as possible is commendable and necessary, if we are to turn Gozo into a five-star destination.
The island has been without a direct air link to Malta International Airport for a long time now, ever since the Spanish company folded its operations to operate a chopper service, even though the necessary infrastructures at the helipad exist.
It is vital that the airstrip is extended by a few hundred metres for small fixed wing planes carrying 24 passengers to be able to use it.
With that in mind, all tourism related businesses could see a bright future in the coming years.
