Contrary to what was stated by Victor Ciangura in his letter Misnomer (TMID, 2 May), it is not a misnomer to call the ex-Pinto Bonded Stores, the Valletta Waterfront.
What is Floriana, but an inner suburb of the greater Valletta? It is a boring old argument Mr Ciangura puts forward.
What does it matter to him anyway? He comes from a designated Maltese city. I used to live at Liesse Hill in the 1960s.
No one called that area Ix-Xatt tal-Furjana. From underneath the Telgha tal-Kurcifiss right through the Customs House tunnel towards Victoria Gate was known, and is still known, as ix-Xatt tal-Belt (Valletta).
Floriana has always been a suburb, not a city. Okay, for years they had a football team worthy of a city, but apart from that it always lived in the shadows of the capital.
